More Great New York Bars for March Madness!

Who Could Forget the George Mason Run?!
So after we posted some of the best March Madness Bars to check out for the big tournament, my friend and new MNL user Tim responded with his own top 5 bars to check out….
Professor Thom’s :: East Village
Known as the go-to spot for Red Sox fans in enemy territory, ask for college hoops (when the Sox aren’t on) at this J. Crew-ified East Village watering hole and that’s what you’ll get. Cute bartenders, plenty of young just-out-of-college (or in college) chicks, decent chow, and great beers on tap — including Delirium Tremens — make Prof Tom’s a better-than-average spot to watch hoops. Plus long-standing East Village dive Finnerty’s is right next door so you can numb the pain of your bracket being busted by downing some super-cheap swill.
O’Hanlon’s :: East Village
At first glance, this rather anonymous 14th street pub wouldn’t seem like a great spot to catch a game. Step inside and it’s a different story. A conversational atmosphere and long bar with plenty of HD TVs behind it are the most noticeable characteristics. Since there’s always a spot at the bar, sit down, order a pint and ask the bartender to put your game on. (which they always do) It’s not at all like being at a game or being among fans, but it’s the perfect spot for watching that ESPN2 Toledo vs Buffalo scrap that you just want to concentrate on without distraction (disclosure: author went to and praises Buffalo!).
Angry Wade’s :: Carroll Gardens
This is my go-spot for Saturday afternoon games in the dead of winter. The fireplace is crackling, the popcorn is free, Big Buck Hunter is there for timeouts and halftime, and the selection of booze is perfect for whiling away a winter afternoon watching some college hoops.
A.J. Kelly’s :: Financial District
Should you find yourself in the Financial District - FiDi to those in the know - when an important or semi-important college hoops game is taking place, there ain’t no better place than AJ’s to watch said game. Beers are relatively cheap (for the area) and there are more than enough TVs, which means that the always-helpful staff at AJ’s will figure out a way to get you your game.
200 5th Avenue :: Park Slope
Folks tend to have a love/hate relationship with this place. I love it and truly believe that it’s the best place in New York City to watch the first two rounds of the Big Dance. Get there at 12:30 Friday the 20th, sit on the quiet restaurant side and you’ll be in March Madness heaven.
Use meetnowlive.com mobile, your Ultimate Party Radar, to see who’s out at these bars watching the tournament in real-time and if you’re at one of these bars let your friends know by tapping “broadcast now” on these bar’s meetnowlive page. See you out there!
