local brooklyn peeps chowing and boozing

So I have checked out the talented old school/dancehall DJ Juice E at Barrette, one of my local spots in Brooklyn.  She has a regular residency on Thursdays at Barrette and Sundays at Habana Outpost, but this Saturday is not to be missed.  From 12PM to 12AM on Saturday, 5/9/09, Habana Outpost is taking over South Portland Ave from Fulton to Lafayette in Fort Greene for a huge block party.  You can expect a mix of live music, DJ sets, fashion shows, and local cratsmen selling their wares.  DJ Juice E is spinning from 5-10PM.  For more details, here is the official press release.  Check it out!  See you out there….

Front Room window seats at Spring Lounge

After Free Beer Friday, we created a little impromptu bar crawl starting at The Town Tavern followed by Slane and Gatsby’s and then ending at one of my favorite bars in the city, Spring Lounge. We had a great time and I was thoroughly hammered by the time we even got to Spring. The place was loaded with girls and a few unsuspecting foreign tourists who were more than happy to get up close and personal.

Front Entrance of Dos Caminos along Park Ave

On a Monday night, especially in this “recession”, one would imagine these celeb-infused restaurants to be almost vacant.  Not this Park Ave hot spot.  As my friend and I just randomly strolled into Dos Caminos for dinner on Monday night the place was nearly packed wall to wall and it was only 7pm.  Although the crowd wasn’t exactly as trendy as I expected, there was some afterwork-suit eye candy.  Mainly tables with groups of men or women getting together for a quick and relaxed bite to eat, with the random table for two aka date, intermixed.
